THR - Total Hip Replacement

Other online resources

The very best online forum for Hip Replacement patients I have found is at http://patient.info/forums/discuss/browse/hip-replacement-1109

Sign up for this forum; it really is the best, most friendly place to be. So many generous people from all around the world, with one thing in common, most of them have actually been through a hip replacement operation so know what it feels like. Someone always seems to be there 24x7 and they all try to help one another with whatever problems or issues they have. They share personal stories, give advice, support, tips, ask questions, voice concerns and have an occasional tantrum, meltdown and discuss their victories, from small to big ones.

Some of the contributors are about to get surgery, some are in the process of recovering from Total Hip Replacement (THR), and some are veterans with multiple hip surgeries behind them.

If you are worried about anything, just go there and ask, someone will always try to help. Some of the contributors have experience of other problems in conjunction with their hip surgery.

When you start posting on the forum, let people know at what stage you are, if you have had your pre-operation appointment, what were you told to prepare at home, do you have a husband, partner, or someone at home to help you.

On the Patient.Info website, in the Related Information section on the right of the page (on a PC) you will find;

'Hip Joint Replacements' this gives advice on what to expect (being referred for surgery, Pre and post-operative care, surgical technique, rehabilitation, complications, and much more)

'Anaesthetic Choices' this explains the anaesthetic.  Spinal, sedation, epidural, general, nerve block, delaying the operation, pain relief, side-effects, and much more (like what happens on the day of, during and after your operation)

Also look in the pinned "THR - Useful Resources" thread - access it by clicking the "Hip Replacement" link just above "Unfollow this discussion"

At Patient.Info you can get to know some wonderful people from all around the world, and you will soon regard them as your best hippy friends.

My grateful thanks to
